Hello. I'm Soda Parker and I'm very happy to have been invited
to take part in your online course. The question I plan to explore with you
is whether online instruction enhances learning. As educators, we are learning
ourselves what makes online instruction most effective. Therefore, it is important
to identify the particular characteristics of online instruction that result
in increased learning.
The premise I will present is based on the Seven Principles
for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education described by Chickering and Gamson.
I will describe several components of online instruction which promote these
seven principles and thereby promote learning.
The presentation is delivered in PowerPoint. Further explanation
of the points on each slide is included in the notes section. I invite your
reaction to the premise and supporting examples. I look forward to engaging
in a discussion with you.
