ION Faculty Summer Institute

Evaluation Feedback

Comments from Faculty Participating in the May 18-20 FSI

Overall, the quality was.....

The absolute BEST conference and it is in a new emerging area.  WELL DONE! Very valuable experience. I did learn. Stimulating

The Session of greatest interest or value to me was.....

The sharing of the online courses other cc instructors are offering. FileMaker Pro on the Web. Workshops Conferencing tools.
Instructional design issues. Getting started in online courses. Instructional Design issues and Monday afternoon faculty demos. Loved hearing what others would do, have done.  CLC group was good.
Breakout sessions.  Presentations by faculty who have online courses. Enjoyed the hands-on training - really appreciated all info put on disks for later use - great idea.  Please continue doing this. Richard Crang - He should have been an early plenary speaker! The workshops that I attended were all of interest to me. The sharing session from the colleges on Monday.

Likelihood I will incorporate content into my teaching.....

Definitely.  I will begin this summer Want to start out slow by using a Web page for my traditional course.  Hope to eventually develop a continuing ed. course for nurses. As long as there is appropriate support... I will not try by myself. I want to put some supplementary course items on the web.

How FSI can better meet my needs.....

I just wish all the faculty from my institute could have been here. More discussion related to instructional design issues. More exercises - Problems to solve - Continue the workshop to online problems/exercises following the 3 day event. Shared policies about internet delivery of courses.  More open discussion - round tables, cracker barrels.

How FSI can be improved.....

Thanks for a great opportunity to learn! I really appreciate all of the information on links to help me with my exploration.  It was great. Workshops were very helpful. A one-day follow-up session in January to regroup and share our trials, problems, etc. Maybe 4 days???  I would like to see professional evaluations of even more on-line courses.
Could you please share with all of us the list and e-mail addresses of the people in attendance? Longer sessions and more specific applications so I can actually start my course and continue work on other courses. Make the hands-on session two hours with more of a focus. One cannot digest everything in such a short time. A good introduction, though to get your interest.  I think that there should be 2 institutes (one following the other) a) we first need to get our feet wet with the technology, b) then we can discuss some of the educational ramifications at a followup (once we have attempted to use some of these technologies).
