What is the Faculty Summer Institute?

Faculty members from all twenty participating ION Colleges from across Illinois will come together on the Urbana-Champaign campus to collaborate on the integration of networked information technologies into the curriculum.

Each campus will send a team of faculty members and instructional support personnel to the Institute. The Institute will:

• introduce faculty members to the use of learning technologies, such as the World Wide Web and asynchronous conferencing,
• create a network for sharing in the development of the curriculum and use of learning technologies, and
• provide an opportunity for faculty teaching in similar disciplines to share best practices.

Each institution may send up to ten staff members to the Institute. The Illinois Online Network grant will cover the cost of the actual institute, instructional materials, facilities, and many of the meals. The grant does not cover travel expenses or overnight accommodations.
